The Little Free Food Shelf is a place to leave your extras and share in the bounty of your community. We encourage you to bring, according to the time of year: produce that will stand up to the weather, seed packets, seedlings, single serving instant foods, non-perishable snacks, etc.
It only works if people also take! If something catches your eye, please take it before the squirrels do! Help us out by using the recycling bucket to compost anything that is no longer in decent condition.
Backstory:
The Little Free Food Shelf started when my husband picked up a free shelf on the side of the road, and I commandeered it to set up in the front yard with all of my extra garden dill and baby tomatoes to give away.
I painted the above rock and left it on the shelf. Neighbors started leaving and trading their excess produce as well, and it was a great way to try things I hadn’t planted! Thanks, whoever left us kohlrabi, you inspired me to plant it the next year!
